**Will Play for Blood** The second illustration from the *Stray Hymns* series. Inspired by classic black-and-white horror films, this piece explores nocturnal folklore, old monster cinema, and the strange mythology hidden deep within forgotten forests. Suspended beneath moonlight and mist, the bats are portrayed as wandering musicians of the night — somewhere between creature feature, folk tale, and roadside legend. The illustration was intentionally developed with a monochromatic noir approach, using dense shadows, diffused fog, and softened edges to recreate the atmosphere of vintage horror photography and deteriorated film stills. The scene embraces suggestion, silhouette, and mood, allowing parts of the creatures to dissolve into darkness and smoke. The handmade instrument and the “Will Play for Blood” sign reinforce the blend of dark humor, folk music, and gothic storytelling that defines the visual identity of *Stray Hymns*. By Paulo Coruja.
