Matinta Perê – from the Mapin & Guari Book (Vol. 4)
This illustration presents Matinta Perê, inspired by one of the most mysterious figures in Brazilian folklore, traditionally associated with the secrets of the forest and strange whistles heard during the night. In Mapin & Guari – Volume 4, however, the character is reimagined as a magical guide who helps the Mapinguari brothers navigate hidden worlds and forgotten paths. Carrying ancient wisdom and surrounded by quiet mystery, Matinta opens glowing portals that reveal places invisible to ordinary eyes. Living somewhere between worlds, the creature becomes a symbol of curiosity, discovery and the idea that even the strangest legends may hide kindness beneath their mystery. The scene reinforces one of the central themes of the series: that fear of the unknown can often become wonder once we choose to explore it. All Rights Reserved.
